Pingdom is the incumbent, and it is priced like one. For most teams the question is not whether it is good — it is whether the bill matches what they actually use.

What Pingdom is better at
Transaction checks. Scripted multi-step flows — log in, add to basket, check out — run in a real browser. We do not have that, and if your critical path is five clicks deep, a status code on a URL is not a substitute.
Real user monitoring. Ours is synthetic: we measure what our request experienced. Pingdom can tell you what your actual visitors experienced, including INP, which cannot be measured synthetically at all because there is nobody clicking.
The reporting stack around it. SLA reports, long retention, an established place in an enterprise procurement process.
Where people move
The slider. Per-check pricing means the most valuable monitor you own — the checkout, the payment callback, the login — is also the most expensive to watch often, so teams quietly check it less. Flat pricing removes that trade-off, and that is most of the reason this tool exists.
The other reason is scope. A great many teams bought an observability suite and use the uptime checks. If that is you, the comparison is not feature-for-feature, it is a few hundred euros a month against nine.
