What Better Stack is better at
Incident management. On-call rotations, escalation policies, phone calls and acknowledgement flows. If you run a rota, this is a genuinely different product from ours and the right one to buy.
Status pages. Theirs are mature, with incident timelines and subscriber notifications. Ours show the monitors you pick, and that is currently the whole feature.
The logs and traces around it. If you want monitoring and log management from the same vendor, we do not compete at all.
Where people move
Monitor count against price. Twenty monitors at around $29 is reasonable until you have sixty, and the next tier is a step most small teams feel. Five hundred monitors for €9 is a different shape of bill, and catalogue pages make that difference large quickly.
The other one is the tool being heavier than the job. If nobody on the team is on call and the alert goes to a Slack channel and an inbox, most of what you pay for goes unused.
